Ride Report - An Introduction to Club Riding - April 2017
12 of us turned out for this intro ride to Cusworth Hall. It couldn't have fell on a better day, sunny from the outset and it warmed up rapidly.
This was under 50km like most intro rides. There were a few lumps in this one but nothing harsh at all and taken at nice steady pace as per usual. After all these kind of rides are to let any newbies see what club riding is all about with us at Sitwell.
After the usual climb out of the village we was pretty much on the country lanes, through Micklebring, Edlington and Sprotborough, with lots of downhill sections to the cafe at Cusworth Hall. The return leg from the cafe had a few more gentle gradients up through Cadeby and Old Denaby, until the very last hill close to base known as Brecks. A little bit more taxing but we all got up it fine, and like all the route plenty of support from each other for anyone who was starting to tire.
We have used this cafe before at Cusworth Hall on our regular Sunday club rides. So it is very good. Not too expensive and a huge array of choice. We all sat outside to refuel in the beautiful surroundings and warm spring sunshine.
To say this was more of a lumpy intro ride everyone managed fine sticking together as a group as a whole. It wasn't until the last few km where we became a little more fragmented but as always there were plenty of regular members to help out anyone. All in all the ride was enjoyed by all so I am sure we will do this route again in the future.
Our next ride to an Introduction To Club Riding is on Saturday 22nd April. Everybody is welcome. Come and give us a try and see what club riding is all about and Sitwell as a club.
