Ride Report - Hardwick Hall
5 of us headed off to Hardwick Hall with one more member joining us at Killamarsh. We had a little note left waiting for us at our meeting point from club member Paul who couldn't make it, willing us on, and adding that extra bit of encouragement, as well as making us smile on a cool, breezy and mainly cloudy morning.

This was a very lumpy route and had quite few surprise draggy climbs in it. The route had been slightly changed near Heath after the cafe stop, due to a closed road being flagged up earlier on in the week. A good call also as it meant we missed the very busy roundabout involving the M1 and kept us on the quieter lanes, so will be keeping it the same for when we do it again. The roads as a whole were very good, a combination of B roads and quiet lanes.
The cafe within Hardwick Hall was very nice. Large inside and out with ample seating. Plenty of space outside to leave your bikes and peace of mind you felt knowing they would generally be safe. There was a huge array of food options from cakes to bacon butties and meals.
Even though we were a relatively small group, we did keep it together pretty much. We did get strung out in parts, especially on the hills, but as always in true Sitwell fashion we all waited and congregated at the top if not hanging back to offer support to the slower riders.
Our next club ride is this Sunday 3rd July. We've done this route before but we will be stopping at the Tea Rooms in Brodsworth Hall and Gardens. Hope to see you there, new and old if you can make it.
