Club Competitions 2017

It's competition time folks!

This year will be slightly different to last year’s event and will allow more opportunity for all members to competitively participate.

Main Prizes for the year as last year are:

  1. Polka Dot jersey for the overall Winner of the KOM challenges.
  2. Green Jersey for the overall winner of the SPRINT challenges.
  3. The Yellow Jersey for the overall GC winner of several competitions based on a number of aspects.
  4. The Sitwell Stripes will be awarded to the Club Member of the Year pending a vote, the same as last year.

This is not mandatory, you do not have to enter and it is just a bit of fun so please take it as it is meant to be.

KOM

To be in with a chance of winning the Polka Dot is simple and completely in your hands. Each month starting from April until September we will assign a segment which will be a local hill and you can do it as often as you like that month to try to improve your position. This segment will change every month and points are accumulated over the 6 months to reach an outright winner.

The points will be awarded based on your position on each months Strava segment club leaderboard. (The only requirements are you need to be a member of the club on Strava. If you're not request to join.)

Points will be awarded for the top 25 positions.

The points will be awarded as follows: 1. - 35, 2. - 30, 3. - 26, 4. - 24, 5. - 22, 6. - 20, 7. - 19, 8. - 18, 9. - 17, 10. - 16, 11. - 15, 12. - 14, 13. - 13, 14. - 12, 15. - 11, 16. - 10, 17. - 9, 18. - 8, 19. - 7, 20. - 6, 21. - 5, 22. - 4, 23. - 3, 24. - 2, 25. - 1.

SPRINT

The Green Jersey is for the SPRINT champ and follows the same idea as the KOM, do it as often as you wish, each second counts and this is great fun on our Wednesday night rides as we subconsciously veer or ride over towards the sprint segment and have a couple of cracks at it. Again this segment will change every month and points are accumulated over the 6 months.

The points will be awarded based on your position on each months Strava segment club leaderboard. (The only requirements are you need to be a member of the club on Strava. If you're not request to join.)

Points will be awarded for the top 25 positions.

The points will be awarded as follows: 1. - 35, 2. - 30, 3. - 26, 4. - 24, 5. - 22, 6. - 20, 7. - 19, 8. - 18, 9. - 17, 10. - 16, 11. - 15, 12. - 14, 13. - 13, 14. - 12, 15. - 11, 16. - 10, 17. - 9, 18. - 8, 19. - 7, 20. - 6, 21. - 5, 22. - 4, 23. - 3, 24. - 2, 25. - 1.

GC

The coveted prize is the Yellow jersey for overall GC club champion.

The points system for this is a little more complicated and will require you to sign up for all three Strava challenges each month.

  • Gran Fondo
  • Cycling Climbing Challenge
  • Cycling Distance Challenge

Gran Fondo

There will be 10 points awarded for completing the Gran Fondo challenge each month.

Climbing and Distance Challenge

The points will be awarded based on your position on the Strava challenge club leaderboard. (The only requirements are you need to be a member of the club on Strava. If you're not request to join and you must have signed up to the challenges.)

Points will be awarded for the top 25 positions.

The points will be awarded as follows: 1. - 35, 2. - 30, 3. - 26, 4. - 24, 5. - 22, 6. - 20, 7. - 19, 8. - 18, 9. - 17, 10. - 16, 11. - 15, 12. - 14, 13. - 13, 14. - 12, 15. - 11, 16. - 10, 17. - 9, 18. - 8, 19. - 7, 20. - 6, 21. - 5, 22. - 4, 23. - 3, 24. - 2, 25. - 1.

Extra points

Extra Points allocated each month for completing hills from Simon Warren's Top 100 climbs list, so if Holme Moss is 8/10 difficulty rating that’s 8 points, Monsal Head 3/10 so 3 points for that.

You can only receive points for each climb once per month.

Attending Sunday rides with the group gains you 5 points as does the Wednesday night rides.

Finally, photographs, each month’s best photos will receive points and be included on the Club website, these can be voted for by Poll on Facebook.

No static rides will be accepted, be it turbo, spinning, watt bike, etc.

It is up to you to ensure that you mark your rides accurately as there will be points deducted for skull-duggery.

Best of luck to all involved, give it a go, most of all, have fun doing it!!

Thanks,
Rob
