Committee Meeting - 1/4/19

We had our club committee meeting a few weeks back where the below was discussed. These are held every first Monday of the month in the Sitwell Arms, Whiston. Club members are more than welcome to attend to discuss any issues they have.

The next committee meeting will be: Monday 6th May

Committee members present:

Jonny Haynes (JH) – Club Chair
Andy Laidler (AL) – Vice Chair / CTT Racing Officer
Claire Morgan (CM) - Equality & Diversity Officer
Mark Weston (MW) – Social Officer
David Southwood (DS) – Treasurer
Mick Harrison (MH) – Club Captain
James Fox – Vice Chair / Publicity and Marketing Officer

Rob O’Reilly (RR) – Membership Officer
Phil Smith (PS) – Kit Officer
Tom George (TG) – BC Racing Officer

There were sufficient committee members present for the meeting to be quorate.

This is now well under way. Numbers are still a little low at the moment but we are only 2 weeks in. Potentially we are going to extend the drop in session from 5.30pm to 7.30pm and see what time seems to fit parents and their children best. Equipment of cones, whistles, bean bags, slalom poles and a first aid kit have all now been purchased.

Ride Leaders

It has been discussed that if the numbers on a club ride are above 12 then the Ride Leader should ring ahead and inform the café being used. Just out of courtesy. From past experience the staff will be really appreciative of such a call and normally means as a group we will be served much quicker as they will have had some notice.

Charity Fun Day

A Charity Fun Day is being proposed for Sunday 8th September at Whiston Parish Hall. All funds will be for our denoted Charity Rotherham Hospice. Times are yet to be confirmed but members will still be able to go on the club rides in the morning if they wish also. The kind of things that will be going off will be face painting, bouncy castle, cake sales and various other stalls to name a few. Contact Committee Member Claire Morgan if you would like any more details or may have something to offer.

Ladies Rides

A ladies only ride to encourage females into the sport and to simply ride their bikes will be taking place on Saturday 14th and 27th April. Both rides will be led by Claire Morgan.

A Club session at the Veledrome, either Manchester or Derby in the month of June is being looked into. More information will be released in due course.

Andy Laidler will be looking for Marshalls at the beginning of May for our Club Hill Climb Competition at the end of that month. It is expected if you race the Hill Climb that you will Marshall at the Sprint Competition in July or vice versa. So race one, help at the other. Smooth operation of these Club Events should stand us in good stead for the Open Hill Climb Event we are hosting in September. Radios for all these races have now been sorted, along with High Viz Vests, Signage, Timers, Numbers etc etc.

Thanks for reading.

If anyone has any points to raise with the committee please feel free to do so.
