Committee Meeting - 5/6/17

We had our club committee meeting a few weeks back where the below was discussed. These are held every first Monday of the month in the Sitwell Arms, Whiston. Club members are more than welcome to attend to discuss any issues they have.

The next committee meeting will be: Monday 10th July

Update from May

Socials Officer

Mark Weston had shown an interest in this vacant position and had some very good ideas. After a vote of support by the Committee he is now the new Socials Officer.

He already has been a busy bee. The last Friday in every month now will be a standard social down at club sponsor The Sitwell Arms, always kicking off at 7.30pm for drinks.

Every few months some other type of social event will be arranged in addition, most probably cycle related as after all that's what has brought us all together. Track evening, cycling expedition/talk are just a few thoughts for this.

In the meantime Mark is getting the ball rolling for a summer BBQ. Keep your eyes peeled for more info on this in the usual club outlets.

Kit

Phil has now completed the kit order and is being processed for those that have ordered. It should be with you in the next few weeks. Also as most club members are aware we are looking at other kit providers as well as always reaching for the best deal with our current one (Akuma).

Cafe racing

It was proposed that once a month on a Saturday morning we have a local club ride that includes basically a smash fest. A nice spin close to home with then a short distance race to the cafe stop. It will just be a bit of fun. Nothing won or lost apart from energy. After the cafe stop like the the majority of the ride it will be a usual club spin. Because of the nature of the ride, a leader may not necessarily be needed. Speak to James Fox for more about this.

Membership issues

We've had less than a handful of guests who seem to be taking liberties when it comes to membership.

We welcome anybody on our rides regardless of race, gender or sexual orientation. After all, it's the Sitwell CC way. The way it should be.

But it's been agreed if anybody has been along to 5 rides then we politely ask them to join us before attending another ride. It is only fair to our existing members. We think it's great value at £20 for the year and it includes some fantastic benefits.

More information on membership is available here: http://www.sitwell.cc/membership

Local press

The club was featured in both the Rotherham Advertiser and Sheffield Star on Friday 9th June. A nice article on our landmark achievement to get to 50 members. As always, thanks for your support. Our PR man James Fox has sorted this. Good work Foxy!

Thanks for reading.

If anyone has any points to raise with the committee please feel free to do so.

Thanks,
Andy
