The next committee meeting will be: Monday 9th September

Rob O’Reilly (Membership)

Apologies:

Jonny Haynes
Andy Laidler

David Southwood
Tom George

There were sufficient committee members present for the meeting to be quorate.

Charity Update (CM)

Everything is booked for the family fun day on the 8th September but volunteers for the day are still required. Please contact Claire if you are available to help.

Group Riding (MW)

It has been noted by members that group riding standards / etiquette still has room for improvement, can Ride Leaders please ensure that a briefing is given at the beginning of rides as to what is expected, especially when new / more inexperienced club members are present. ROR to look at sending out British Cycling guidelines with new member pack. If anyone is unclear as to how to ride in a group there are plenty of useful resources on the club website, via British Cycling or just ask one of the committee members.

Green / Amber Ride Start Time (MH)

It has been suggested that the start time of the green ride is brought forward to 8:30am so if there are no riders there for the green ride, the ride leader has the option for a club ride regardless. To be discussed in greater length by the committee.

2020 Trips Abroad / Socials (MW)

Following on from discussions in the club regarding cycling trips abroad, Mark Weston has volunteered to coordinate two trips next year in April and September, to Majorca and the French Alps respectively. The August social will be to discuss the details of these trips and to get an idea of numbers. On the back of this it was suggested by Mark that socials are moved to once per quarter and to hold different events. The committee was in agreement.

Addition to the Committee (JH)

Jonny has proposed that Chris Habershon to the committee as Head Coach given that the kids coaching sessions are going from strength to strength and new coaches will be coming on board in the following months. This proposal was unanimously passed by the committee.

Hill Climb (AL)

Andy has requested a meeting to discuss the forthcoming open hill climb w/c 19th August. Date TBC once diaries have been checked.

AOB (All)

  • Suggestion made to hold club hill climb and sprint competitions on Sunday mornings next year to try and increase participation. To be discussed closer to the time.
  • CM – would like to have an 80’s themed fancy dress ride to celebrate a big birthday in December time. CM and MH to liaise regarding dates.

Thanks for reading.

If anyone has any points to raise with the committee please feel free to do so.

Thanks,
James
