Committee Meeting - 5/9/2016
We had our club committee meeting a few weeks back where the below was discussed. These are held every first Monday of the month in the Sitwell Arms, Whiston. Club members will be more than welcome to attend to discuss any issues they have.
The next committee meeting will be: Monday 3rd October at 8pm.
If you're not aware by now, we have a new website. Built by myself over the last few months or so with assistance from Dave S.
Have a look around. There's loads of new information, including a discounts page.
Let us know what you think.
No new updates as yet for this month. Both Tom and Duncan are chasing a few and we'll hopefully have more details on these by the next meeting.
Social & Kit Sizing
Our next Social will be Friday 23rd September, from 7:30pm at The Brentwood Hotel. Just down Moorgate Road from Rotherham Hospital.
We have a room reserved at the back for the purpose of trying on kit. Charlie from Akuma will be on hand again to go through the gear and help with sizing.
Hope you can make it.
A quick head count puts us at 28 members which is great. That includes 1 Irish Man, 1 Aussie and Ade (Our token southerner). But sadly no ladies.
That is something we're working on. We've had numerous turn up for rides over the last 6 months, we just need to convert them into full time bike-loving members.
N.B. Membership runs from January to December, so unless you purchase your membership from October onwards, it'll need renewing in January (Members who join in October - December will have an extended first year).
That leads me to items to be included with your membership fee for next year (First year members will still receive the Giraffe and OneLifeiD).
We've discussed getting branded water bottles and possibly some branded DryAss's. What do you think?
Winter club rides
From the first weekend in November until the first weekend in April all Sunday rides will return to the later start time of 9am.
After discussions with a handful of members we're also going to alternate them, 1 week road, 1 week MTB. The first Winter/MTB ride will be Sunday 6th November.
We're still deciding what's best for Wednesday evenings, but Spin Classes have been suggested. We'll let you know in due course what we decide to do here.
We're going to continue with our British Cycling (BC) affiliation for next year. It's a bit of a no brainer as it provides us with insurance and allows us to race, but we've also discussed the possibility of adding Cycling Time Trials (CTT) affiliation.
CTT affiliation will allow members to take part in non BC events that include time trials and hill climbs.
This does depend on the funds available at the start of the year as there is a cost for this, it will also depend on how many members are interested in using this affiliation.
If it's something that interests you can you let us know.
Announcements for the AGM will be made after the next committee meeting. The AGM is scheduled for November as per the Club Rules and Constitution.
Thanks for reading.
If anybody has any points they'd like to raise with the committee, feel free to do so.
