COVID-19 Update 3

Good afternoon folks,

Apologies for the repeated contact, but as you are all aware this is an ever-changing situation.

Following an update to the guidance from British Cycling (below), we're left with no option but to cancel all club rides until 30th April at the earliest.

Our recommendation to clubs is that no organised activity (including rides, training, coaching, events) should take place during this period, in line with government advice on social gatherings on non-essential travel

If you decide to venture out, please stay safe.

We'll see you when this all blows over.

Thanks,
Jonny

[UPDATED 17.03.2020]

COVID-19 Update 2

British Cycling have just issued the following: https://www.britishcycling.org.uk/road/article/20200312-British-Cycling-Coronavirus-COVID19-Guidance-0, Cycling Time Trials and AudaxUK have issued similar statements.

As such our planned race for 4th April at the Doncaster circuit is cancelled.

The Committee have also discussed other club activities at length.

The social for March and April is cancelled.

Go-Ride coaching is cancelled until May at the earliest. At which point it will resume at Cowrakes Recreation Ground in Whiston.

As for club rides, until we’re presented with other advice we’ve agreed the following:

WiW will remain as is, but reduce close contact at the meet point.

Ride Captain’s haven’t said otherwise, so Saturday and Sunday rides will still run but we’ve agreed to limit the distances to around 30 miles. These WILL NOT include cafe stops to reduce contact time.

We believe the statement we put out yesterday still holds true.

Being fit and healthy is an important deterrent to the risk of any infection and as long as you follow advice on how to avoid catching or spreading the virus, we would still encourage you to look after your health by getting active and getting out on a bike.

If any of the above changes, we’ll notify you through the usual channels.

Thanks,
Jonny

[UPDATED 16.03.2020]

COVID-19

Good morning folks,

We appreciate that many of you will be concerned about Coronavirus/COVID-19, and we are following the guidance given to us by the government, the public health authorities and British Cycling.

Being fit and healthy is an important deterrent to the risk of any infection and as long as you follow advice on how to avoid catching or spreading the virus, we would still encourage you to look after your health by getting active and getting out on a bike.

As such, all club activities will continue as normal until we’re told otherwise.

We appreciate some of you may be in the 'at risk' groups and wish to 'social distance' from the rest of us and that’s fine. Stay safe and we’ll see you when this all blows over.

If you are showing symptoms of COVID-19, please adhere to the government and NHS guidance and don’t come to club activities. (https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19).

Thanks,
Jonny
