Ride Report - Brodsworth Hall

We started with seven of us leaving Whiston, but that number increased shortly to eight when we picked up a rider a couple of miles in.

Four left us as we reached Tickhill for various reasons but for two club members it was just about steadily increasing the mileage in their legs.

This just left members Andy, Duncan, Darren and prospective new member Lloyd to do the whole route.

The route

After last weeks very lumpy and bumpy route this was pretty much totally the opposite, the flat lands of Doncaster. It was changed in part slightly for the last 15 miles due to an altered cafe stop. We now have several loops for this club run after having done it a few months ago all on some very nice and quiet roads.

Café stop

The plan was to stop at Brodsworth Hall and Gardens Tea Rooms for a bite to eat and drink. However on arriving here we was informed it would cost us each £10.40 just to enter, even though we was just wanting to use the Tea Rooms.

After a quick no hesitation discussion and decision, it was decided we would pass on the charge and go to Butlers Tea Rooms at Cusworth Hall, about 3 miles up the road.

We already knew it was good here as we had been on a club ride there earlier on in the year.

Again it didn't disappoint, really nice, so much choice and in lovely surroundings. It was much quieter than our last visit there, though like last time we all sat outside with our drinks and butties in what we know as a British Summer.

Group riding

Due to the rolling nature at the start and end of the ride we were slightly strung out at them points, but for the majority we was very close knit, exactly how it should be. Any gaps that did form, the pace was soon slowed down to quickly regroup.

To say we averaged one of our fastest paces yet for a club ride we all did very well. Like we always say, it's a pace to suit all and that will always be the case.

Our next club ride is next Sunday (10th July) to Boston Park.

This ones a biggy, around 80 miles and two local climbs right at the end, otherwise it's relatively flat.

This will be our largest ride to date.

Hope to see you all there who can make it, newcomers included.

If you're in doubt come and pedal it out!

Cheers
Andy
