Ride Report - Chesterfield
So surprise surprise. MTB ride week and it could only mean one thing… atrocious weather once again. We seem to be so unlucky with the weather for these. Not only freezing cold but we had heavy rain, wind, sleet and snow, only thing that was missing was the sun. Still four of us braved it for a trip down the TPT to Chesterfield from Rother Valley and back.
The usual route was taken. After meeting at Rother Valley cafe we set off down a very muddy and boggy TPT, going through Renishaw, Staveley and Tapton Park Golf Club in Chesterfield, heading then back along the canal path and linking back up with the trail at Staveley. The route was a pure mudfest from start to finish, but what it lacked in firmness was made up in fun.
Due to the nature of the route for quite a large part of it we could ride as a group of four. Other parts of course single file. There were no crashes or mishaps, good riding by all considering the conditions.
We decided to stop at the cafe at Rother Valley at the end of the ride. Moreover just to warm up. Andy couldn't stop shivering and just as it seem all were warm Rob T seemed to get hit get the cold. Luckily, new club member Neil was on hand with his van to give he guys a lift back to Whiston.
Just to say well done to all who braved it. It wasn't easy, by the time we got back to the start we were all soaked, cold and covered in mud, but had had fun… the Sitwell way!
The next ride is on the road to Wadworth, tis coming sunday. Rob O'Reilly will be leading.
