Ride Report - Retford

And again…

We love it. An awesome cafe with a cracking route. IT's become the club's defacto ride.

We started out with 8 leaving the village, a little murky early on (the first showing of arm warmers) and then after the cafe stop the sun greeted us. Glorious.

7 club members on this one and a very welcome guest in Bobby.

We now have 25 club members. Thanks for your continued support.

The route

The same route as we've done before with no modifications, a quick 30km extremely flat ride out to Retford and the Broomwagon Cafe, then the very scenic 50km back to Whiston, skirting around Tickhill and Maltby.

No real challenges to note, just plenty of smooth rolling tarmac. The weather helps.

Café stop

I don't think we can add to what's been said before. Always welcoming, great food and great prices. We love it.

Group riding

Stuck together well throughout the ride as it was easy to do with only a small amount of riders. SOme people struggled a bit towards the end in the wind that greeted us after Tickhill, but we stuck together and provided shelter for them.

All club members are really improving as the weeks progress. An increase in average speed and confidence on the bike makes for happy riding. Well done everyone.

Our next Sunday club ride is the weekend after next, 4th September. A new ride out to Major Oak at Sherwood Forest. Andy will be leading.

N.B. - A quick reminder Duncan will be leading our second "Introduction to club riding" event on Saturday 3rd September if anybody's around to give him a hand I'm sure he'll appreciate it.

Also good luck to the guys riding the Barnsley Road Club Heroes Ride next Sunday.

Thanks,
Jonny
