Ride Report - SCC, Giant Sheffield, VOID Clothing, Dean Downing led ride into the Peaks

We were invited over Twitter to join the Giant Sheffield and VOID Clothing crew on a Dean Downing led ride through the peaks. How could we turn down the opportunity. First off, many thanks to Andy of Giant Sheffield and Dean himself for putting on a great ride and talk. If you weren't there you certainly missed out.

The route

We had to make our own way over to Giant Sheffield which is just down from the B&Q in Sheffield city centre, as the weather was good and it was nice and early on a Sunday morning we went down the canal to Meadowhall which made a nice change.

What we learnt from this is some members need to work on their bike handling skills as we had to navigate a few staggered gates and this caused some problems.

After we'd linked up with the Giant/VOID crew we climbed up to the top of Ringinglow Moor. A bit long stretch of road that seemed to last forever but provided us with spectacular views and a really nice fast, flowing descent into Hathersage.

We had a quick stop near Chatsworth to take in the sites. Have a breather and a chat before we headed over to Beeley Moor where we'd been given free reign to attack the climb which some of our members did with aplomb. Good fun.

We then worked our way across the tops before heading down back into Sheffield through Millhouses.

All in all, a great route - we'll be doing it again.

Cafe stop

There wasn't a cafe stop on this ride, however we were provided with croissants and free coffee at the Giant Sheffield store.

Group riding

A big group of around 20 riders or so tackled this. I think we had 7 club members turn up which was great for exposure. We were strung out a little on the Ringinglow Moor climb early on but once we'd got the hang of everyone's pace we stuck together like the little peloton that we were. Good hand signalling, good etiquette. Well done.

Our next Sunday club ride is this Sunday 14th August. It's a hilly one out to West Yorkshire. Lee will be leading and looking after you.

Cheers,
Jonny
